2016 Heartland Conference Basketball Tournament Game Times and Dates Set for Play

Waco – Sixteen teams will make the trek to Tulsa, Okla. next month for the 2016 Heartland Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, and the first neutral site since 2008.

The Heartland Conference Championships will be held in the John Q. Hammons Arena at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center (UMAC) in Tulsa from March 3-6. Hammons Arena has seating for nearly 3,000 spectators and is home to the Union High School Redskins. The UMAC previously hosted The Summit League’s men’s basketball tournament from 2005 through 2008.

The four-day tournament features two eight-team single elimination brackets. The women begin play on Thursday, March 3 with quarterfinal matchups, followed by the men’s quarterfinals on Friday, March 4. Semifinals for both brackets will be played on Saturday, March 5, and tournament championships are slated for Sunday afternoon.

During the tournament, players and coaches from all teams will spend part of their time in the community of Tulsa, making visits to local elementary schools in the Union school district. Altogether, players and coaches expect to serve over 200 hours in the community throughout the week.
